Welcome to the 2021 Gateway Heights Gators Swim Team! We are excited to get back into the water and compete in the ESA league this year! Please join us on June 3, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the pool for our parent meeting to meet the coaches, learn about the program, and submit forms and checks if you haven’t mailed them. Remember, due to insurance reasons, we cannot allow your child(ren) to participate without a signed application form.
Practices will begin the week of June 7, 2021. On June 7th and June 9th the coaches will hold practice from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the 10 and under group, and from 6:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the 11 and up group. These two practices will be time trials. This is designed to give the coaches a starting benchmark for the swimmers. The regular practice schedule, described below, will begin on Thursday June 10th.
The practice schedule for this year will be Monday through Friday mornings. Swimmers ages 11 and up will start at 9:30 a.m. and go until 10:45 a.m., and swimmers ages 10 and under will start at 10:45 a.m. and go until 11:30 a.m. Any swimmer who is 11 and up that wants to volunteer to help the Learn to Swim program are welcome to stay and help after practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays until 11:15 a.m. All swimmers are encouraged to attend as many practices they can that fit into your schedules. Swimmers should arrive for practice and be ready to begin at their start time.
We are planning to have our Fun Day practice on Fridays this year. We are working out the details of the Fun Day schedule and will update the schedule accordingly.
There will be 8 dual meets this year and will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The schedule will be posted on the bulletin board for reference and will be emailed to you. Warm ups begin at 5:30 p.m. for home meets, and 6:00 p.m. for away meets. Swimmers are to arrive no later than 5:10 p.m. for home meets and 5:40 p.m. for away meets. If your child(ren) cannot attend a meet, there will be a sign off sheet posted on the bulletin board. Please sign your swimmer(s) off so the coaches can plan line-ups
accordingly. If there is a last minute change, please notify a coach as soon as you can in order to make the necessary changes to the line ups.
Also, there will be the special meets. The Meadowink Relays, June 19, 2021. Walt Brown Invitational (Odd-Age) at Haymaker, June 26, 2021; Monroeville Invitational at Garden City, July 17, 2021; and Mini-meet at Park July 24, 2021. Information about
these meets will be sent out when we receive it from the host clubs. And, this year we will be hosting Battle of the Borders on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. More details to follow.
Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the ESA has voted to not hold a Championship meet this year.
Meets will be different this year as we try to navigate through the COVID restrictions. Each pool will have their own set of restrictions which we will have to follow. We will have that information out to you as we get it. There will also be sign-up sheets for volunteers for home meets and away meets. Volunteers for away meets are normally for timers and judges. For home meets we will need volunteers for a variety of spots. Concessions will be different this year in order to follow COVID guidelines. More information regarding volunteering and guidelines will be sent at a later time.

SYNCHRO SWIM (click here to download the letter and registration form)
We are excited for the return of our Synchronized Swim program again this year! Led by Molly Goss, and assisted by Ellie Withers, the two have planned some fun songs for the groups! Both Molly and Ellie have been involved with synchronized swim since they were 5 and still enjoy it today.
We will have a parent meeting on June 3, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the pool to discuss the program and a chance for you to meet Molly and Ellie. You can also submit your application form and check at this time if you haven’t already mailed it in. Please note that due to insurance reasons, we cannot allow your child(ren) to participate without a signed registration form.
Practices will be Monday, Thursday and Saturdays, beginning Thursday, June 10, 2021. For the first two weeks, Monday and Thursday practices will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays ages 12 and under will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and ages 13 and older will be 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Molly and Ellie will use the first 2 weeks to determine the groups based on the number of swimmers we have and the swimmers skill level. While we realize your child(ren) might want to be in the same groups as their friends, this may not be possible as Molly and Ellie want to maintain manageable group sizes and an even distribution of swimmers throughout the groups.
The practice schedule for the remainder of the season will be the following:
Mondays and Thursdays:
Group A: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Group B: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Saturdays:
extra routines: 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Group B: 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Group A: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
This year, Molly is offering an opportunity for our older swimmers to perform an extra routine. This extra routine is a chance for the swimmers to pair up with their friends and choreograph a routine to a song of their choice. The song must fit the theme for the year and be approved by the coaches.
This year's show will be on August 7th. There will be a dress rehearsal on August 6th. We will need parent volunteers for the following: Dress rehearsal hair; dress rehearsal make up; pizza party helpers; pizza party donations; show decorating; show make-up; and show hair. A sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin.
We are looking forward to a fun Synchro Season this year!!!
